Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

I first realized my passion for working with children when I participated in an on-campus pre-school while I attended Cypress High School.  After high school I began studying Early Childhood Education and worked as a Pre-School Teacher in Cypress, California.   From there I went on to work as a nanny for a family with a toddler.  I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at California State University, Dominguez Hills and decided to stay on campus to earn my Master’s of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy as well.  While attending graduate school I worked as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern at a local middle school.  Upon receiving my degree I began working at a culturally diverse community mental health center with children ages 4-18.  My work was not just with the children, but with the parents and often siblings and extended family.

Children face so many struggles and challenges today.  Some may be experiencing social, emotional, and behavioral issues, while some may be experiencing a stressful life transition such as a move, adoption, or a loss.  And yet some may be distressed without a known stressor.  I provide a safe space for children to explore their struggles and identify attainable solutions.

I believe that parents are the ones that “hold it all together”.  As a parent it can be difficult to know how to respond to behaviors or how to handle tough parenting situations.  I strive to offer a space where parents can go to process struggles, learn parenting tools, and come up with a plan for how to respond to their child.  I truly believe that when a parent feels supported, the whole family benefits.
